The scope of Frameweld’s past work with video and rich media is deep – implementations that combine countless layouts, applications that monetize content, learning handled a variety of ways, social features, certification workflows, custom reports, live events, unique workflows for specific clients, and the list goes on. Cramming everything into the Workshop was not an option. Aside from the staggering investment of time and effort it would take, the end product would be as expansive as it would be amorphous and directionless. We would likely end up with a video CMS and application framework that would be fantastic for our own use and a group of clients, but a small audience beyond that.

We knew that from the get go. Nevertheless, the impulse at the outset was to include more. Despite culling many items, we had plans for live video presentations, wysiwyg editors for creation of pages, options for registration and learning, and so on. The true purpose of the application – creating great video presentations – didn’t come into view until we slashed, refined and simplified.

Distilling the essence of the Workshop also revealed the areas which were lacking. Our goal was to make the Workshop seamless, enabling users to handle every step in the process, with ease, instead of recommending offline processes and additional tools. The lack of a video uploader and encoder left it feeling disjointed. So we went to work adding as well as subtracting from the application.

In hindsight, the push and pull, the trimming, changes and additions, made the Workshop what it is today. It might have been faster and easier, if the vision and roadmap were crystal before putting pencil to paper, pixels into Photoshop, and code into an editor, but the product is stronger as a result of the process.

It’s been a long road but the Workshop is here, ready for you and countless others. I would love to hear your thoughts and welcome questions. Visit to learn more.
